In addition, Evergreen belongs to the Pacific Northwest Presbytery. A Presbytery, is defined in Chapter 13 of the BCO as, "...consist[ing] of all the teaching elders and churches within its [geographical] bounds that have been accepted by the Presbytery. When the Presbytery meets as a court it shall comprise all teaching elders and ruling elders as elected by their Session. Each congregation is entitled to two (2) ruling elder representatives for the first 350 communing members or fraction thereof, and one additional ruling elder for each additional 500 communing members or fraction thereof." The highest leadership body in the PCA is the General Assembly, which is defined this way in Chapter 14 of the BCO, "The General Assembly is the highest court of this Church, and represents in one body all the churches thereof. It bears the title of The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America, and constitutes the bond of union, peace and correspondence among all its congregations and courts." The last meeting of the General Assembly was June 12-15, 2007 in Memphis, TN. The next meeting of the General Assembly will be June 10-13, 2008 in Dallas, TX. |
