Pastor
Our founding pastor is Stephen P. Lewis. Stephen is an ordained
minister in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
Born in
California, Stephen moved to Salem from Beaverton, where he served as
an assistant pastor and as the Oregon Mission Coordinator, promoting
the planting of new congregations in the state of Oregon.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from
Biola University, Stephen taught English and history to junior high and
high school students for five years. During that time he believed that
God was calling him to be a pastor. He then studied Greek and Hebrew at
Westminster Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Divinity.
Stephen’s wife, Amy, graduated from Fresno Pacific University
and then taught English and drama to middle school students for five
years. Amy’s father, Ron Voris, is a pastor and a general contractor.
Stephen’s father, Philip E. Lewis, is a missionary in Ethiopia. Stephen
and Amy met each other in elementary school and are now thankful to be
the parents of five children. In the summer of 2000 they hosted
Evergreen’s first series of meetings in their home.
